Low cost wallboard production.
With four facilities in New Mexico, Oklahoma and Colorado, Eagle Materials is capable of producing
nearly 3 billion square feet of wallboard annually, making us the nation’s fifth largest
wallboard producer. Our yearly production equals approximately 8 percent of the total U.S. capacity, and you’ll find our products in homes and buildings throughout 36 of the 50 states.
Because of our low cost position, we have some of the highest margins in
the gypsum wallboard industry.
Our primary wallboard
market historically has been the Western half of the Sunbelt region of
the United States. With our Georgetown, South Carolina greenfield
wallboard project, we will expand our presence, improve our customer
service and reduce freight costs to the fastest growing region of the
country. Construction of our new low-cost gypsum wallboard
manufacturing facility continues to be on-time and under-budget. The
Georgetown, South Carolina wallboard facility is a major strategic
investment in the Southeast. It reflects Eagle’s commitment to
focus our expansion efforts both in geographic regions that expect
higher growth rates and in regions where housing is still affordable.
Our new facility is expected to be commissioned in November 2007. The
new plant will have an annual manufacturing capacity of 750 million
square feet and should be our highest-margin plant.
